Jerry L. Mortimore, 64, of Wolcottville died Saturday, December 29, 2007, at 8:20 pm at his residence.
Mr. Mortimore had resided in Noble County most of his life. He was store manager for S&S Oil in Kendallville, and had worked 30 years at Taylor Made in Kendallville, retiring as manufacturing manager.
He was a member of Kendallville Moose Lodge #1301 and a charter member of the men's auxiliary of the Francis Vinyard VFW Post 2749 in Kendallville.
He was born May 15, 1943, in Noble County to Homer & Reba (Olinger) Mortimore. On May 8, 1987, in Noble County he married Barbara Grate.
Suriviving are his wife Barbara Mortimore of Wolcottville; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jo Johnson, Paula & Randy Robbins, Jan & Terry Longsworth, and Penny & Gary Hamman all of Kendallville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike Mortimore and Travis & Shay Mortimore all of Kendallville; one stepdaughter and her husband Julie & Ron Olin of Michigan; 23 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie & Paul Shoemaker of Claypool, Pat & Jerry Febles of Cree Lake, and Sandy & Russ Muscello of Adams Lake; and one brother and sister-in-law, Tom & Carolyn Mortimore of Kendallville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leahmae Palmer.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 3, 2008, at 11 am at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Dan Engber of the Howe Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Sedan Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Chris Palmer, Tracy Palmer, Tom Mortimore, Wade Mortimore, Mark Marti, Russell Muscello, Jr., Seth Mortimore, and Brandon.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2008, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Home Health & Hospice.
