Obituary

Jerry Lee Collins, 79, of Wolcottville died Friday, January 18, 2019, at his residence.

He was born February 10, 1939, in Floyd County, Kentucky, to Worden and Grace (Allen) Collins.

On April 19, 1956, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, he married the love of his life, Velma Glee Hicks. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2012. He then married Lola (Sizemore) Conley on June 21, 2014, in Stroh.

Mr. Collins had worked as a foreman at Olson Body in Sturgis. He served as pastor at the United Baptist Church in Stroh for 17 years.

Jerry was a character who loved to joke with others. He enjoyed people and loved his family.

Surviving are his wife, Lola Collins of Wolcottville; four daughters, Debra (Jim) Meyer of LaOtto, Teresa (Bruce) Allen of Sturgis, Jennifer Good of LaGrange, and Deloris (Kim) DeYoung of Waterloo; three sons, Jeffery (Rhonda) Collins of Auburn, James (Sara) Collins of Avilla, and Gary Collins of LaGrange; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Sue Collins of Paintsville, Kentucky, and Laura Ann Lane of Dayton, Ohio; and five brothers, Jackie David Collins of Little Rock, Arkansas, Clifford (Louann) Collins of Stroh, Billy Collins of Arizona, Johnny (Becky) Collins of Wayland, Kentucky, and Jimmy (Dixie) Collins of Sturgis, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Velma Collins; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Lois Cordial.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 6340 E 700 S, Wolcottville with Pastor Ron Bell and Pastor Willie Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Ontario Cemetery.

Calling is Tuesday, January 22, 2019, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the church where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to the family.
