Obituary

Jeffrey L. Young, 61, of Fort Wayne died unexpectedly Monday, September 25, 2017 at 4:22 p.m., in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born October 16, 1955, at Luckey Hospital in Wolf Lake to Carl Gale and Mary Elizabeth (Buckles) Young.

He was a 1974 graduate of Central Noble High School.

Mr. Young served in the U.S. Navy from September 5, 1974 to October 24, 1980.

He was the owner and operator of JYS Satellite in Fort Wayne.

Jeff enjoyed playing golf. He was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone in any way he could. Surviving is his wife, Sharon L. "Sherry" Young of Fort Wayne, they were married September 14, 1996; a daughter, Julie (Joe) Kogin of Fort Wayne; two sons, Brent (Connie) Turrin of Fort Wayne and Adam Turrin of Indianapolis; six granddaughters, Darrian Turrin, Dionna Turrin, Kamri Turrin, Lexi Turrin, Makayla Boolman, and Maya Kogin; a sister, Dianne (Alan) Baker of Warren; four brothers, Patrick (Kathy) Young of Kendallville, Jim (Pam) Young of Fort Wayne, Gage Schrader of Fort Wayne, and Grant (Joelle) Schrader of Leo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Carl G. Young; his mother, Mary E. Schrader; his stepfather, Max Schrader; his brother, Michael G. Young; and his mother-in-law, Mary Varrato.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene, 2951 Sandpoint Rd., Fort Wayne with Pastor Richard Dickson officiating. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Honor guard services will be provided by active duty members of the U.S. Navy.

Honorary pallbearer will be Brent Turrin. Active pallbearers will be Pat Young, Jim Young, Gage Schrader, Grant Schrader, Joe Kogin, and Tim Moore.

Preferred memorials are to missions work at Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene.

Calling is Friday, September 29, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
