Jean Thrush, 97, of LaOtto died Thursday, January 19, 2017, in Chandler Place, Kendallville.

She was born December 17, 1919, in Swan Township, Noble County to Chester and Gertrude (DeHoff) Whonsetler.

On September 14, 1944, in Garrett she married Robert Thrush. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1997.

She was a lifetime LaOtto resident and a homemaker.

Mrs. Thrush was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran church in LaOtto and a member of the Ladies Aide. She was the last member of the LaOtto Euchre Club, a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Swanettes Home Demonstration Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Jean loved cooking, canning, freezing, and maintaining a large garden. She was a master seamstress who also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and could make anything. She also enjoyed crafting.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Judith "Judy" and Charles Wolf of Kendallville; four grandchildren, Zachary and Kristen Wolf of Fishers, Joshua and Bethaney Wolf of Fishers, Stacy and Troy Foote of Churubusco, and Rebecca and Todd Freeman of Albion; and 11 great-grandchildren, Maggie Wolf, Lucas Wolf, Carson Wolf, Everett Wolf, Charlotte Wolf, Brooke Foote, Bridgette Foote, Blaire Foote, Courtney Freeman, Sydney Freeman, and Nicklaus Freeman.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Thrush; a sister, Catherine Brindle Moore; and two brothers, Robert Whonsetler and Bernard Whonsetler.

Private funeral services will be held at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Jeremy Russell of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in LaOtto officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery in DeKalb County.
