Funeral services will be Monday, October 13, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Calling is Sunday, October 12, 2014, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. *************************************************************************************** Jay Eldon Keck, 67, of Wolcottville died Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 4:45 p.m. in his residence.

He was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Lakeland High School.

Mr. Keck honorably served his country from 1965 to 1971 during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Marine Corps with the Echo 27 Division and in the U.S. Navy.

Jay enjoyed writing poems.

He was born January 20, 1947, in Kendallville to Ralph E. Keck, Sr. and Ruth E. (Walburn) Keck.

On April 3, 1971, in Wolcottville he married Linda Lou Keister. She survives in Wolcottville.

Also surviving are a daughter, Carrie Nichole Keck of Kendallville; a son, Aaron (Jessica) Keck of Woodruff; three grandchildren, Makayla Keck, Kaitlyn Keck, and Derek "DJ" Smead; two sisters, Helen Baird of Kendallville and Phyllis (Bill) Vanderpool of Wolcottville; two brothers, Wayne Keck of Wolcottville and Larry (Nell) Keck of Emmalena, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Virginia Schmidt; and six brothers, Ralph Keck, Jr., Richard Keck, Phil Keck, Byron Keck, Chuck Keck, and Lynn "Cork" Keck.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 13, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Rich Secor of Crosspointe Church of the Nazarene in Kendallville. Burial will be in Sweet Cemetery, Albion.

Honor guard services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, and Kendallville American Legion Post 86.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Keck, Erik Keck, Austin Keck, Wayne Keck, Richard Keck, and John Halsey.

Calling is Sunday, October 12, 2014, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Hospice.
