Janis Arleen Anderson, 95, of Fort Wayne, Indiana died Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ossian.

She was born January 13, 1928, in Kendallville to Kenneth and Mable (Eulitt) Emerick.

She married Richard Anderson. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Janis was a homemaker.

She enjoyed cooking, crafting, and chatting. Her companionship with her pets was important to her in her later years.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane E. Smith of LaGrange and Lisa Anderson of Albion; a son, Steven Anderson of Florida; 17 grandchildren; several great and great great-grandchildren; and her cat, Louis.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Ramey; two sons, David Anderson and Stan Anderson; a granddaughter, Jennifer Smith; and a brother, Jim Emerick.

Graveside services will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery near LaGrange at a later date.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
