Janice I. Ramey, 72, of Stroh, Indiana passed away Monday, January 2, 2023, with her family by her side.
Born, August 24, 1950, in Kentucky to the late Thorton "Cotton" and Bonnie (Bloomer) Combs.
In 1967, Janice married Finley Conley, he preceded her in death in 1980. She then married James "Bud" Ramey, he preceded her in death in 2015.
Surviving are five children, Carol (Johnny) Torrez, Jim (Rhonda) Conley, Richard Conley, Donald Conley, and Finley (Dee) Conley; three stepchildren, Ken (Sherry) Ramey, Rod (Paula) Ramey, and Margaret (Mike) Blankenship; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Janice is also survived by her sisters, Sue Messer, Elmira Shepherd, Fay (Larry) Anglemyer, Shelby Vanhoozer, Retha (Austin) Godsey, Linda (Jr.) Conley, April Combs; a sister-in-law, Sue Combs; brother-in-law, Brent Eminger; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Rusty Wallace; a great-granddaughter, Cherish Tuttle; a sister, Nannie Eminger; and a brother, Astor Combs.
Janice loved nothing more than her family, which consisted of many neighborhood (now grown) children, which she babysat throughout the years. She was known as Mamaw Jan to so many. She always put others before herself.
Janice worked for Coachmen and Starcraft through the years. She also babysat for many, many children and later went on to work at area restaurants. She was known for her biscuits and gravy.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 6, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Terry Tuttle, Larry Anglemyer, and Johnny Huff officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodruff Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Stroh Fire Department.
