Janice Sue "Jan" Baker, 55, of Kendallville died Sunday, January 29, 2012, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was a resident of this area for most of her life, coming from Kentucky. She was a homemaker.
Janice loved to serve and minister the Word of God. She was involved in numerous ministries.
She was born July 6, 1956, in Hindman, Kentucky to Clayton H. Slone Sr. and Olive (Slone) Slone. On October 11, 1987, in Brimfield she maried David L. Baker. He survives in Kendallville.
Also surviving are two sons, Matthew Jimenez and Destiny Renkenberger of Kendallville and Trafton Jimenez of Kendallville; three grandchildren, Tynesha Jimenez, Aliyah Jimenez, and Alan Jimenez; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Ray Ritchie of Wolcottville, Jeannie and Joe Woody of Taylorsville, North Carolina, and Robin and Phillip Lucas of Rome City; and two brothers, Clayton Slone, Jr. and Tabatha Slone of Rome City and Michael Slone of Rome City.
She was preceded in death by her father on March 9, 2009; her mother in 1968; her stepmother, Geraldine A. (Brewster) Slone on December 8, 2001; and a brother, Bobby Slone.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 12 noon in Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, 2900 E 1150 N, Wolcottville with Pastor Phillip Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Anthony Jimenez, Joey Newsome, Timmy Newsome, Steven Newsome, Rodney Messer, Clayton Slone, and Josh McCullen.
Calling is Tuesday, January 31, 2012, after 4 p.m. in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.
