Janette Jimenez Metz was born on March 18, 1975, in Manila, Philippines. Both her parents passed before her. Salvador Laurilla and her mother Florencia Jimenez Laurilla. Janette lived most of her life in Las Pinas, Philippines, in their family home. She attended Adamson University in Manila. Her brother Junie also precedes her in death. Her cousin Edmond Taotao, his wife Maria (Baby) and their son and Janette's nephew, Tyrone all survive and live in their family home in Las Pinas.

Janette came to the United States on July 4, 2018. She married Mark Metz in North Dakota. He survives in Howe, Indiana. She was very proud of becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2022.

She struggled with pancreatic cancer for over five years. She endured chemos and surgeries, but she always had hope and kept her beautiful smile. If you asked her how she is doing she always smiled and said good, with her beautiful smile.

She always had a warm smile for everyone. She loved her dog, Max and her cat, Memow. She treasured her friends and family relationships. She had many loving friends. Her relationships were the center of her life.

She was a licensed CNA and found great satisfaction caring for the elderly. She loved to travel and see new things and try new foods. She treasured her Filipino friends and culture.

She loved the people of her church, St. John's Episcopal Church of Sturgis, Michigan.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 110 South Clay Street, Sturgis, Michigan.

She will be buried with her family in Las Pinas, Philippines.

Preferred memorials can be given to the ARK Animal Sanctuary of LaGrange County, and/or the Friday Free Lunch and Homeless Ministry of the St. John's Episcopal Church of Sturgis.
