Janetta Slone, 64, of Burr Oak, Michigan died Sunday, September 11, 2022, at her daughter's home in Helmer, Indiana.

She was born May 4, 1958, in McDowell, Kentucky to Mitch and Alphia (Kiser) Blankenship.

On September 8, 1979, in Clintwood, Virginia she married the love of her life, Wilgus Slone, Jr. They just celebrated 43 years of marriage. He survives in Burr Oak, Michigan.

Mrs. Slone had worked for QCI in Orland for 30 years. When she could no longer work, she became a homemaker.

Janetta enjoyed traveling, playing cornhole, and taking care of others, but what she loved the most was to spoil her grandchildren.

Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Kuhn of Helmer; six grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah (Megelle), Ethan, Donavan, Madison, Dustin; a great-granddaughter, Serenity Rose; and two brothers, Michael (Margaret) Blankenship of LaGrange, and Doug Blankenship of Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Justin Wilgus Slone; two brothers, Donnie Blankenship and Ricky Blankenship; and a sister-in-law, Jill Blankenship.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lisa, Alysa, Pete and Linda for their help in their time of need with Janetta's care.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson with Pastor Rick Davis officiating.

Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
