Janet Kay Peters, 83, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born April 18, 1941, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Elvin Ellsworth and Thelma Francis (Smith) Svoboda.
On June 26, 1965, in Kendallville she married Carl Ronald Peters. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2025.
Mrs. Peters worked as a secretary at McCray Refrigeration in Kendallville and retired as the lead secretary at A-1 Production in Kendallville.
Janet had a wide variety of interests, including collecting sparkly things, going to garage sales, coloring, and flowers of every kind. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were her first priority, and she particularly valued watching movies with them. Janet also enjoyed eating fish and going for a drive as long as it included a stop at the ice cream shop.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lori (Peters) Davidson Polly and Larry Polly of Kendallville; a son, Jason Peters of Auburn; two grandchildren, Brent Davidson and Jaelynn Likens; three great-grandchildren, Jayden Davidson, Jaykob Davidson, and Lincoln Davidson; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Ruth Svoboda of Kendallville; and nieces and nephews, Debbie Svoboda-Terry (Mike Terry), Dennis (Karen) Svoboda, Steven (Stacey Coppel) Svoboda, Stephanie (Jim) Ordway, Mark (Debbie) Snyder, Scott (Linda) Snyder, Terri (Tom) Rausch, and Beth Ann (Greg) Neuhaus.
She was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Dorothy Svoboda.
Visitation is Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services on Friday at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Antal officiating.
Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
