Jane Kerns, 74, of Kendallville died Saturday, December 15, 2012, in her residence.

She had worked for United Airlines for 10 years. She then worked in accounting for Waterfield Mortgage Company for 25 years.

Jane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville.

She was born August 10, 1938, in Kendallville to Conrad Wendall and Catharine (Canode) Platner. On October 19, 1973, in Charleston, West Virginia, she married James T. Kerns. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2002.

Surviving are two step daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Kerns and Simon Mares of London, and Virginia Kerns and Ronald Hellet of Utah; two step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Barbara Platner of Arkansas; and a sister and brother-in-law, Anne Platner Binder and James Binder of Palm Springs, California.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 201 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Jordan Truman and Rev. Stanley Kessler officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Preferred memorials are to the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville.
