Jane Hossinger, 90, of Kendallville died Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 5:10 p.m. in her residence.
Mrs. Hossinger had lived in Kendallville since 1954. She was first and foremost, a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She also was an owner and director of Hossinger Refrigeration in Kendallville.
She was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville, member and past president of Sigma Beta Sorority, Iota Tau Chapter, Kendallville Business and Professional Women and Lady Elks.
She was born January 19, 1919, in Avilla to Curt and Daisy (Cook) Simon. On October 19, 1948, in Newport, Kentucky, she married John C. Hossinger. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1975.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jon C. & Dawn Hossinger of Kendallville,and Hal C. Hossinger of Kendallville; three grandchildren, Heather & David Strycker of Fort Wayne, Shannon Hossinger of Bloomington, and Brittany Hossinger of Fort Wayne; a step granddaughter, Alison and Joe Melton of Indianapolis; two great grandchildren, Samuel Strycker and Monroe Melton; two nieces, Sally Sibert of Avilla and Mary Pat Bailey of Avon; and a nephew, Jack Schauweker of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vaughn Simon and Chris Simon; a sister, Pearl Schauweker; a niece, Sandra Bender; and a nephew, Walt Schauweker.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Steve Brittenham of Trinity Church United Methodist, Kendallville officiating. Burial will be in the Avilla Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Seidel, Stan Brady, Paul Hoerner, Tony Mulholland, Ron Pierce and Jim Beights.
Active pallbearers will be Al Countryman, Mick Shook, Dave Strycker, Charlie Berhalter, Jim Stencel and Dr. Tom Koerner.
Calling is Tuesday, September 22, 2009, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one-half hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Home Health and Hospice.
