Viewing will be held Friday May 8, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 9,2015, from 11a.m.-12 Noon in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

James David Thomas, 84, of Dallas Lake, Wolcottville, IN passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2015.

James was born on March 27, 1931 to Jack and Gertrude Thomas.

He graduated from Wolcottville, High School in 1950. He served his country aboard the USS Antietam and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1953.

James married his high school sweetheart, Helen Caldwell on June 7, 1951. They celebrated 63 happy years together and had four sons.

James was in sales management for the majority of his career.

He loved to spend time at home on Dallas Lake, playing golf with his wife and sons, and playing cards with family and friends.

He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge in LaGrange, IN.

James will be greatly missed by his wife, Helen Thomas of Wolcottville IN; sons, Ken (Glenda) Thomas of Bonita Springs, FL; Mike (Christy) Thomas of Naples, FL; and Chris (Debbie)Thomas of Park City, UT; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brothers and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Claude Thomas; his son, James David Thomas Jr.; grandson, Jeromie Joe Thomas; and his beloved dogs, King and Tasha.

Viewing will be held at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North Wolcottville on Friday May 8, 2015, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 9, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange. Rev. Carldean Merrifield and Rev. David Matthews will officiate.

Honor guard services will be conducted by LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and active duty members of the U.S. military.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Thomas, Heather Brady, Christopher Thomas, Kathryn Thomas, Brittany Thomas, K. Tyler Thomas, Mark Caldwell, and Mark Pearson and attendant, Jim Thomas.

Lunch will be held immediately following the graveside service at the LaGrange American Legion Post 215.
