James E. Schultz, 81, of Rome City, Indiana died Friday, November 15, 2024, at his residence.

He was born August 20, 1943, in Auburn, Indiana, to Harley and June Marie "Peg" (McConnehey) Bouse.

On April 25, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nevada he married Helena "Lena" Rinker.

He honorably served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Schultz had worked at Zollner Piston for 35 years as an inspector and he was also a 16-year reserve officer for the Fort Wayne Police Department.

James loved to fish and travel. He also enjoyed living at the lake.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 330 in New Haven.

Surviving are his wife, Helena "Lena" Schultz of Rome City; a daughter, Wendy (Greg) Woehnker of Fort Wayne; a son, Jeff (Ann) Schultz of Florida; a stepson, Chad Banks of Texas; four grandchildren, Erik Woehnker of Fort Wayne, Jonathon (Leah) Woehnker of Fort Wayne, Ashley Schultz of Florida and Amanda Schultz of Florida; and a brother, Jack (Pat) Bouse of New Haven.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Terry Schultz and Steven Bouse.

There will be no local services. His ashes will be scattered in Colorado at a later date.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
