James D. Polly, 75, of Wawaka, Indiana, died Thursday, February 22, 2024, in the emergency room at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

He was born September 6, 1948, in Hindman, Kentucky, to Clark and Nannie (Amburgey) Polly.

On March 26, 1977, he married Clora Knapp.

Mr. Polly had worked at Kreider's in Ligonier as a mold builder.

He was a member of Rome City American Legion Post 381.

James enjoyed camping, bonfires, canoeing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and watching westerns on television. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving are his wife, Clora Polly of Wawaka; four daughters, Iolet (Randy) Risedorph of Kendallville, Julie Stacy of Kendallville, Sherry Polly of Wawaka, and Tara (Steven) Hagerman of Middlebury; a son, James (Teresa) Stacy of Ligonier; 17 grandchildren, AJ, Ryan, Eric, Brayden, Linda, Matt, Amanda, Steven, Tiffany, Michael, Kurtis, Karyssa, Kortney, Kyla, Chloe, Briana, and Ashton; several great-grandchildren; five sisters, Abbie Potee of Niles, Michigan, Dallas (Gene) Skaggs of Rome City, Helen (Glenn) Kessler of Sebring, Florida, Patty McCarty of Sebring, Florida, and Betty Conley of Rome City; three brothers, Clark (Donna) Polly, Jr. of Michigan, Larry Polly of Rome City, and Dean (Sue) Polly of Pretty Lake; and a special friend, Mitch of Wawaka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Jessica Polly and Veronica Polly; a sister, Rinda Calhoun; a brother, Joe "Buster" Polly; a sister-in-law, Eva Polly; a brother-in-law, Ergle Calhoun; and a special nephew, Don Polly.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

The funeral service will be Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers are Doug Stewart, Roger Polly, David Stewart, Donny Stewart, Eric Risedorph, Randy Risedorph, and Gene Skaggs.
