Obituary

James W. Pierson, Sr., 76, of Rome City died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 2:21 p.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange, where he had resided for three days.

Mr. Pierson had resided most of his life in Rome City, and attended Rome City High School. He retired in 1992 from Flint & Walling Mfg. in Kendallville after 42 years. He loved his dog, Molly, and enjoyed cars, motorcycles, racing, and the shooting range.

He was born November 18, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Clarence and Helen (Schwartz) Pierson. On February 4, 1952, in LaGrange, he married Wanda L. Wallen. She survives in Rome City.

Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James W. Pierson, Jr. and Dinah Pierson of Kendallville; a granddaughter, Melissa Duff; a great grandson, Benjamin Duff; and a sister, Gloria Hicks of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra K. Pierson in 1966 and a sister, June Hawk.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Lee Combs of Community Baptist Church in Wolcottville officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Calling will be Sunday, June 1, 2008, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
