James Cordell Mullinix, 88, of Angola, Indiana, died Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at his residence.
He was born January 30, 1936, in King Mountain, Tennessee, the fourth of 15 children born to James Gilbert and Ruby Hazel (Matthews) Mullinix.
Mr. Mullinix retired from the Steuben County REMC where he was a lineman and supervisor of the right-of-way crew.
Surviving are a son, James DeWayne (Lois) Mullinix of Kendallville; four grandchildren, Jamie (Toby) Rhodes of LaGrange, Joshua (Toni) Mullinix of LaGrange, Amanda Powell of Huntertown and Joseph Spillner of Carlisle; nine great-grandchildren, Kinsley Rhodes, Nathaniel Mullinix and Hunter Allen all of LaGrange, Laren Hitzeman and Layne Spillner of Kendallville, Kaidance Powell of Fort Wayne, Ryan Powell and Payton Powell of Huntertown, and Adriyanna Spillner of Sturgis, Michigan; three brothers, Bob Mullinix, Clifton Mullinix, and Carl Mullinix; and a longtime friend, Austin L. Choate, from Alpine, Tennessee, he called every Sunday at 5 p.m.
The family would like to give a thanks to longtime special friends and caregivers, Linda and Aaron Pfafman, Marj and Randy Noll, and Rainelle and Greg Silver for their love and care over the years. Also thank you to Parkview Hospice for keeping him comfortable in his battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian J. (Allen) Mullinix on May 14, 2023; six brothers, Wilford, Billy, Donnie, David, Clifford and Kenneth; and five sisters, Pauline, Roselle, Shirley, Kathy and Kay.
Graveside services will be Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Circle Cemetery near Hudson with Pastor Mike Hamm officiating.
Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson is assisting the family with arrangements.
