James Douglas "Jim" Jacobs, 70, of Wolcottville died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at 10:40 p.m. in his residence.
He moved to this area in 1995, coming from Michigan. He retired from General Motors in Lansing, Michigan.
Jim was a member of Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene in Kendallville. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born June 18, 1941, in Lansing, Michigan, to Barney and Dorothy (Bradley) Jacobs. On February 27, 1993, in Lansing, Michigan, he married Carolyn Ann (Wood) Nellis.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Ann Jacobs of Wolcottville; a daughter, Jamie Burgess of Mason, Michigan; three sons, James Douglas Jacobs, II of Lansing, Michigan, Ryan Jacobs of Houghton Lake, Michigan, and Jeffrey Jacobs of Taylor, Michigan; two stepsons, John (Jessica) Nellis of Corning, New York, and Camron(Hayley) Nellis of Owosso, Michigan; 19 grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Jacobs of Florida; and three sisters, Barbara Perfitt of Palm Harbor, Florida, Norma Oakey of Hudson, Florida, and Sharon Nillsson of Mason, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Bradley Jacobs in 1995.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. with calling one hour prior to services in Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene in Kendallville with Pastor Rich Secor officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City, Michigan.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Home Health & Hospice, 1836 Ida Red Road, Kendallville, Indiana, 46755.
