Ehinger
February 4, 1927 – March 23, 2008
James T. Ehinger, 81, of Wolcottville died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at 10:20 pm in Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. He had been in failing health for a month.
Mr. Ehinger had lived in the Wolcottville area since 1973, coming from Fort Wayne. He had worked in heating and air conditioning for Irene Byron at Fort Wayne and Uhl Oil Company in Kendallville. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church at Rome City, was the historian at the American Legion Post 381 in Rome City, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, and the Kendallville Eagles Lodge. He loved and enjoyed his family and woodworking.
He was born February 4, 1927, in LaGrange to Thomas and Gertrude (Rodemaker) Ehinger. On August 2, 1947, in Fort Wayne, he married Jean Ann Gatton. She preceded him in death on February 6, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and John Mickelson of Fort Wayne and Beth and Bill Creigh of Rome City; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Sarah Ehinger of Rome City; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Ehinger of Clinton, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margaret Zollinger and Virginia Ahearn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 11 am at St. Gaspar Catholic Church at Rome City with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery at Wolcottville. Military services will be provided by American Legion Post 381, Rome City. Honorary casketbearers will be Korey Ehinger and Joseph Creigh. Active casketbearers will be Jeremy Creigh, Christopher Mickelson, Brent Fox, Dave Mohr, Mike Funk, and Corey Schamberger.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008, from 4-8 pm at the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.
