Obituary

Jacqueline M. "Jackie" Hamlin, 84, of Wolcottville died Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 5:45 a.m. at Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange.

She was born June 19, 1933, in Kendallville to John A. and Hildegard (Christen) Morr.

On February 6, 1953, in Waterloo she married Walter I. Hamlin. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2002.

Mrs. Hamlin was a homemaker and a member of the Kendallville Church of Christ.

Jackie enjoyed gardening, reading, yard work, and her church.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda (Mike) Metz of LaGrange; a son, W. Vance (Phyllis) Hamlin of Kendallville; two nieces she assisted in raising, Cathy (Gale) Shultz of South Milford and Melissa (Greg) Dickerson of Wolcottville; 11 grandchildren, Melinda (Russ) White, Aimee (Tom) Rhoden, Nathaniel (Michaela) Hamlin, Sarah (Matthew) Thomas, Rachel (Brandon) Estrada, Laura (Ben) Aberle, Ashley (Brad) Morehouse, Nichole (Ryan) Hamil, Kaylin Nugent, Jacob Dickerson, and Evan Dickerson; 18 great-grandchildren, Rebekah White, Lucas White, Abriella Rhoden, Emersyn Rhoden, Jaxson Rhoden, Olivia Rhoden, Lillian Hamlin, Maisie Hamlin, Clara Hamlin, Willow Thomas, Wilder Thomas, Caleb Estrada, Annalise Estrada, Josephine Estrada, Savanna Aberle, Easton Hamil, Kennedy Hamil, and baby girl Aberle due soon; and a brother, Clayton (Carolyn) Morr of Wawaka.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Root; and two brothers, John L. Morr and Delbert E. Morr.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with her grandson-in-law, Pastor Matthew Thomas of Christian Campus House in Charleston Illinois, and Pastor Ken Weaver of Parkview LaGrange Hospice officiating. Burial will be in the South Milford Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Hamlin and Mitchell Diehm. Active pallbearers are Russ White, Tom Rhoden, Nathan Hamlin, Brandon Estrada, Ben Aberle, Brad Morehouse, Ryan Hamil, Jacob Dickerson, and Evan Dickerson.

Calling is Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview LaGrange Hospice.
