IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack E.
Stiver
June 17, 1925 – March 28, 2010
Jack E. Stiver, 84, of Kendallville died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
He was born in Kendallville on June 17, 1925, to Dr. Olin E. and Perle (Poyser) Stiver. He graduated from Kendallville High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1943.
As a life-long Kendallville resident, he worked as a bookkeeper first for Trendline Furniture and later for Miller's Truck Stop on Highway 6. He loved to travel, and created a pictorial scrapbook of his travels to all 92 Indiana courthouses. He also enjoyed reading and listening to opera. Jack lived most recently at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, where, even though his health was declining, he continued to perform his civic duties--keeping up with current events via a subscription to the Kendallville News-Sun, voting in elections, and donating his monthly allowance to various charities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jean Cochard; and brother-in-law, DeWitt Cochard.
Surviving are three nephews: Lee (Kathy) Cochard of Auburn, Dr. Larry (Susan) Cochard of Evanston, IL, and Lynn (Kim) Cochard of Kendallville; and two nieces: Karen Burtnette of Ft. Wayne, and Kathy Cochard of Bloomington.
There will be no viewing or services.
Arrangements are made by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
