Jack Leon Schlagenhauser, 68, of Kendallville, Indiana died Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born May 21, 1958, in Garrett, Indiana to Lawrence J. “Larry” and Ruth Maxine (Fee) Schlagenhauser.
On April 28, 1995, in Albion he married Deborah Baker.
Jack had worked at Reliable Tool and Machine in Kendallville.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and mushroom hunting. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that they will carry with them for years to come.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Schlagenhauser of Kendallville; three daughters, Michelle Inabnitt of Indianapolis, Amber (Ryan) Withrow of Wolcottville, and Rachel Schlagenhauser of Rome City; three stepchildren, Samantha (Mike) Yelland of Yuma, Arizona, John (Sarah) Bitzel of Peru, and Mark Bitzel of Kendallville; thirteen grandchildren, Cyllas (Maggie) Mason, Janet (Ethan) Stanley, Macie Mason, Shaun Mason, Dakota Bolen, Lily Inabnitt, Matthew Inabnitt, Abby Yelland, Aiden Bitzel, Chase Bitzel, Cody Withrow, Trace Withrow, and Kyle Withrow; six great-grandchildren, Finleigh Withrow, Adleigh Withrow, Millie Mason, Aacyn Mason, Maverick Mason, and Leah Stanley; and two sisters, Phyllis (Larry) Schutz of Osceloa and Kathy Heavner of Arkansas.
He was preceded by his father, Lawrence J. “Larry” Schlagenhauser; his mother, Ruth Maxine Musser; and a brother, David Baker.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
A memorial service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery near Garrett.
