Calling: Monday, March 18, 2013 - 6-8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. ***************************************************************************

Jack Edward DeBolt, 80, of Wolcottville died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 7:59 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He has lived in this area since 1987, coming from Fort Wayne.

He honorably served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army and was a medic while in Korea.

Mr. DeBolt retired in 1989 as the manager of maintenance at NIPSCO in Fort Wayne.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville, Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, AMVETS, the Forty & Eight, and the Kendallville Eagles Lodge. He was active in the Boy Scouts when his sons were young. He also served as the Association President of the Springwood Addition in Fort Wayne.

Jack was a proud member of the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. He volunteered at Parkview Noble Hospital, and enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He was a fan of Indiana University basketball and the Indianapolis Colts football. Jack dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed being with his family.

He was born June 4, 1932, in Fort Wayne to Raymond Carl and Mabel L. (Wiswell) DeBolt. On December 4, 1954, in Fort Wayne he married Betty J. Swift, his high school sweetheart.

Surviving are his wife, Betty J. DeBolt of Wolcottville; two daughters, Jacqueline Ann (Charles) O'Brien of Fishers and Diane Kay (Robert) Hermann of Fort Wayne; two sons, Stephen Robert (Roberta) DeBolt of Fort Wayne and David William DeBolt of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren, Michelle Zahm, Christopher Glasgow, Lindsey Dillon, Amie DeBolt, Angela Patterson, David DeBolt, Michael O'Brien, Emily DeBolt, and Matthew O'Brien; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia (Clyde) Smith of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert DeBolt and Richard DeBolt; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Zahm.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, 301 South Oak Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Robert Shriner officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Honor guard services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381 and Kendallville VFW Post 2749.

Casketbearers will be Christopher Glasgow, David DeBolt, Michael O'Brien, Matthew O'Brien, Marc Zahm, and Dan Patterson.

Calling is Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services at the church.

Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
