Jack Lee Arnold, 77, of Rome City, Indiana, died Monday, May 19, 2025, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born May 5, 1948, in Kendallville, Indiana to Homer and Betty J. (Rowlison) Arnold.
On June 12, 2001, in Rome City, he married Mary (Hitchcock) Ritchie.
Jack had worked as a crane operator for Levins and Son in Fort Wayne, he owned and operated JL Arnold and Son Construction and retired from Starcraft Boats in Topeka after over 30 years as a truck driver.
Jack was loving referred to as "wanna be farmer", he enjoyed raising horses, goats, and chickens. Above everything Jack loved his family, especially his grandchildren that just melted his heart.
He was a lifetime member of the Rome City American Legion SAL.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Arnold of Rome City; a daughter, Shelly (David) VanGorder of Avilla; two sons, James (Kimberly) Arnold of Augusta, Georgia and Jason (Annette) Arnold of South Whitley; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Meyers of Rome City and Lee Ann (Chad) Sparkman of Kendallville; a stepson, Michael Ritchie of Sturgis, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Rickey (Brittany) Duty, Amanda (Charlie Fornell) Duty, Jake (Dylen Fox) VanGorder, Kimberlee (Dustin) Schermerhorn, Jessica (Prince) Thomas, Dylan (Mary) Arnold, Trae (Violet) Arnold, and Hailey Arnold; eight step-grandchildren, Cloe Meinert, Maddox Joseph Sparkman, Jordan (Jeremiah) Bowen-Sweet, Nicole Ritchie, Brandon (Katie) Ritchie, Maranda (Jordan) Harris, Kyle Hayes, and Alyssa Hayes; eight great-grandchildren, Addyson Duty, Lucas Fornell, Beau Fornell, Owen Schermerhorn, Lilee Jo Thomas, Jameson Arnold, Hendrix Arnold, and Navy Arnold; eight step great-grandchildren, Lilith Sweet, Hannah Smith, Emalee Smith, Kamdyn (Madison) Ritchie, Addisyn Ritchie, Graylin Harris, Garrison Hayes, and Leon; and a brother, Sam (Myrna) Arnold of Brimfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Nash Arnold; a stepdaughter, Angela Jo Hayes; and a step great-grandchild, Noel Meinert.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Brandon Ritchie officiating.
Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Pallbearers will be Chad Arnold, Brice Arnold, Dylan Arnold, Alex Arnold, Hailey Arnold, and Jared Arnold.
Visitation will also be on Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service all at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home, 10892 N. State Road 140, Knightstown, IN 46148.
