Obituary

Irene Mildred Ueber, 91, of Adams Lake, Wolcottville died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at her residence.

She was born October 8, 1926, in Chicago to Leonard Francis and Mildred Marie (Coufal) Rivers.

She was a 1944 graduate of Farragut Chicago High School.

On May 27, 1961, in Wabash she married John David Ueber. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1991.

She and her husband owned and operated the Rome City Auto Parts from August, 1976 to June, 1986.

Mrs. Ueber was a member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church, Rome City, Adams Lake Conservation Club where she served as President for many years, Noble County Council on Aging, and Beta Sigma Phi in Elmhurst, Illinois. She served as Treasurer of St. Gaspar's annual cookie bar fund raiser for many years.

Irene enjoyed needlepoint, ceramics, hummingbirds galore, summer social gatherings in her back yard gazebo with neighbors, family, and friends, and her beloved golf card rides at Adams Lake.

Surviving are a son, Thomas Edward (Helen) Sawyer of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; a daughter, Pamela Ann (John) Lair of Lake Mills, Iowa; two grandsons, Billy (Cindy) Sawyer of Dallas, Georgia, and Mark (Brandy) Sawyer of Buford, Georgia; a granddaughter, Kerry (Rec) Carithers of Cumming, Georgia; two great-granddaughters, Emma Sawyer of Buford, Georgia, and Sydney Sawyer of Dallas, Georgia; a sister, Ellen (Dan) Cudzic of Richmond, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Janet Rivers of Bartlett, Illinois; numerous nephews and nieces; and many very loved neighbors and friends on Adams Lake.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard F. Rivers; and two grandsons, Sgt. Christopher Ryan Lair and Ryan Thomas Lair.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church, Rome City with Father Jay Steele, CSC officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.

Calling is Monday, April 2, 2018, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Preferred memorials are to St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church emergency fund or masses to the church.
