Obituary

Irene Halsey Brown, 82, of Auburn, Indiana, died Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.

She was born January 5, 1939, in Carrie, Kentucky, to Luther and Mazie (Johnson) Owens.

Mrs. Brown escorted mobile homes for her late husband, DeWayne for more than 20 years. She retired from NISCO in Topeka.

She lived in Stroh for 40 years and moved to Wolcottville where she lived for over 20 years.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Halsey of Auburn and Dennis Halsey of Auburn; five grandchildren, Stacy Clark, Amanda Owen, Shaun Halsey, Amber Arnold, and Nikki Recker; 21 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elbert (Carolyn) Owens of South Milford.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, DeWayne Halsey; her second husband, Robert Brown; two grandsons, Willie DeWayne Halsey and Brandon Lee Halsey; and a sister, Anna Lee Stephens.

Visitation is Monday, March 15, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Brushy Chapel Cemetery in LaGrange County.

Pallbearers are Gary Halsey, Justin Arnold, Amber Arnold, Shaun Halsey, Brayden Ream, and Nikki Recker.

Per the Governor, face masks are required.
