Obituary

Howard D. Kaough, 96, of Avilla was reunited in Heaven with Flora, his beloved wife of 69 years, on Monday, January 29, 2018, at 10:45 p.m. at Presence Sacred Heart Home, Avilla.

He was born June 25, 1921, in Fort Wayne to Thomas Edward and Augusta (Dicke) Kaough.

On September 2, 1943, he married Mary Flora Bazzinett. She preceded him in death on October 2, 2012.

Mr. Kaough was the plant manager for Essex Wire in Fort Wayne and retired as quality control manager from the company, which was then known as Essex International.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville and, for the last several years had been attending chapel services at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.

He was a loving father to three daughters, Victoria (Robert) Woenker of Fort Wayne, Barbara (Cephas) Sutton of Kendallville, and Deborah Boggs of Big Long Lake; and two sons, Richard (Jacqueline) Kaough of St. Petersburg, Florida, and James (Deborah) Kaough of Wolcottville. He was also grandfather to eight grandchildren, Krissa (Ron) Keys of Fort Wayne, Nathaniel Woenker of Fort Wayne, Amanda Woenker of Fort Wayne, Angela (Tim) Dhillon of Fort Wayne, Jason (Cristy) Sutton of Kendallville, Jasten (Adam) Tuttle of Rome City, Jessica Kaough of Wolcottville, and Elizabeth (Paul) Newman of Rehoboth, Massachusetts; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Salzer and Helen Kaough.

Private funeral services will be held at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla with Father Dave Carkenord and Tom Novy officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Hospice or to the Humane Society of Noble County.
