Herbert M. Hart, 86, of Kendallville, Indiana died Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born March 6, 1938, in LaGrange County to Fearon and Clela (Cox) Hart.

On August 16, 1975, at the Assembly of God in Kendallville, he married Linda Copski.

Mr. Hart began his working career as a farmer. He then worked at American Hoist in Fort Wayne for 10 years and after that went to work for Kraft Foods in Kendallville, where he worked for 28 years, before he retired.

He was a member of the First Church of God in Kendallville.

Herbert enjoyed camping, woodworking, tinkering and fixing things, and mowing the lawn. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of almost 49 years, Linda Hart of Kendallville; six children, John (Charlotte) Hart of Kendallville, Crystal Alford of Fort Wayne, Tammy Keister of Waterloo, Rick (Charise) Mitchell of Fort Wayne, Steve Mitchell of Fort Wayne, and Darrell (Lisa) Mitchell of Fort Wayne; 30 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Jaquay of Kendallville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Herbert F. Hart and David Mitchell; a granddaughter, Emmy Lou Mitchell; and three brothers, Franklin Hart, William Hart, and Wayne Hart.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 1 p.m. at CrossPointe Family Church, 205 HighPointe Crossing, Kendallville with Pastor Rich Secor officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, May 20, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services on Tuesday, all at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the family.
