Helen M. Webber, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida, died Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Signature Healthcare in Port Charlotte.
Mrs. Webber had resided in Florida since September, 2005. She had formerly lived in the Hudson area.
She was born October 18, 1918, in Fort Wayne to Nathan and Gertrude (Laisure) Gresley.
She married Gordon Webber in 1938. Thye had many businesses together including Gordon Music Co. in Ft. Wayne, where she taught accordion and trumpet. In addition to owning several restaurants in Indiana, Helen and Gordon were one of the original owners of Three Kings Tavern in Hoagland, and opened the first drive-in restaurant in Decatur called the Chat & Chew. Helen retired from Dana Corp., and continued to enjoy playing the organ throughout her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 4, 1984.
Surviving are a son, Stanley Webber of Port Charlotte; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Larry Spindler of Sarasota, Florida; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at Wright Cemetery near Stroh. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
