It is with heavy hearts, that we announce Helen Louise Thomas, age 90, has passed away on December 2, 2025 in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Helen was born on August 23, 1935 into a large and lively family as the oldest of 12 children. This beginning helped shape her generous spirit and capacity for love. She passed away, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, devotion, and an extraordinary ability to care for others.

As a loving, caring and nurturing mother, Helen raised 4 boys who were the center of her world. She guided them with patience, kindness, and quiet wisdom, always offering a warm place to land. She was so happy when her boys would come home with their families. Helen's life was a testament to resilience, compassion and the power of family.

Those who knew her will remember her gentle heart, her unwavering support, and the way she made everyone feel valued and seen. She had a great love for all animals, especially her beloved cats.

When the boys left home, Helen worked in real estate, worked at Kirsch Window Coverings and Abbott Labs.

Helen was preceded in death by husband James Thomas, parents Stewart and Rosa Caldwell, son James Thomas II, grandson, Jerome Thomas, two brothers and three sisters.

She leaves behind sons Ken (Glenda) Thomas, Mike (Christy) Thomas, Chris (Debbie) Thomas, two brothers, four sisters, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.

Helen will be deeply missed and forever cherished by family and those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her presence.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Wild of Woodruff Grove Church officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange.

Pallbearers are James Thomas, III, Jamie (Thomas) Fugate, Heather (Thomas) Brady, Michael Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Kathryn (Thomas) Berg, Brittany (Thomas) Livingston, and Mark Caldwell.

Preferred memorials are to Ark Animal Rescue in the name of Helen L. Thomas, 530 E 300 S, LaGrange, IN 46761.
