Calling: Friday, February 22, 2013 - 3 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home ****************************************************** Helen Marie Strater, 94, of Kendallville died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 7:50 a.m. in North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion.

She was a lifetime area resident.

Mrs. Strater was a homemaker and a farm wife.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville and the Kendallville Senior Citizens Group.

Helen especially enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting afghans, and cooking.

She was born October 15, 1918, in DeKalb County to John F. and Ethel Mae (Kahler) Schoup. On February 7, 1941, in Angola she married Cedric W. Strater. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1979.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Jack Hosford of Wawaka; a son, Doyne Strater of Wawaka; six grandchildren, Eric Strater of Albion, Kevin (Tracy) Strater of Albion, Kristi (Dave) Stroder of Churubusco, James (Nancy) Hosford of Wawaka, Joel (Anita) Hosford of Albion, and Jason (Susan) Hosford of Albion; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Loyal Schoup and a sister, Vivian Brand.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Casketbearers will be Eric Strater, Kevin Strater, Dave Stroder, James Hosford, Joel Hosford, Jason Hosford, and Michael Hosford.

Calling is Friday, February 22, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
