Obituary

Harold Straley, Jr., 82, of Hudson died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born January 25, 1936, in Saratoga to Harold Staley, Sr. and Florence Ethel (Reynolds) Straley.

On September 14, 1958, in Ashley he married Joyce C. McGrew.

He was a member of the Ashley Masonic Lodge No. 614.

Harold enjoyed playing horseshoes, camping, and playing Santa Claus for many years in the community. He was an excellent cook.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce G. Straley of Hudson; two sons, Randy (Tami) Straley of Hudson and Rick (Annette) Straley of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Chris (Sky) Straley, Randi (Stan) Surfus, Samantha (Justin) Straley, Melissa (Mitch) Miller, Jami (Shaun) Graber, Tyler (Candace) Straley, Austin Straley, Shawn Montgomery, and Jason Montgomery; and 14 great-grandchildren, KayLynn, Kaden, McKayla, MacKenzie, Saige, Kaylee, Cloey, Akaighia, Hayli, Rylee, Corbin, Kansas, Tynsleigh, and Adyarn.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Independent Full Gospel Church, 1000 South Gonser Avenue, Ashley with Pastor Jeff Straley and Pastor Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will be in Circle Cemetery, Hudson.

Pallbearers will be Randy Straley, Rick Straley, Emily Brudney, Chris Straley, Tyler Straley, Mike Kascel, Stan Surfus, Austin Straley, Shaun Graber, and Mitch Miller.

Calling is Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Preferred memorials are to the family for funeral expenses.
