Obituary

Guy "Doug" Fortier, 77, of Wolcottville and formerly of Fort Wayne died Monday, June 23, 2008, in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.

Mr. Fortier graduated from Fort Wayne Central High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1949-1952, during the Korean conflict. He was a Fort Wayne Police Officer, and obtained the rank of sergeant before retiring in 1984. He served in all divisions during his 27 years on the police force. He has lived in the Rome City/Wolcottville area since retirement. He was a member of the F.O.P. in Fort Wayne and American Legion Post 381 in Rome City. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed square dancing.

He was born April 12, 1931, in Fort Wayne to James Reese and Mary (Roser) Fortier.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Paul Cupa of Fort Wayne and Kelly Fortier of Orlando, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Tonya Fortier of Kentwood, Michigan; and three grandchildren, Nathan, Todd, and Katherine.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 27, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with Pastor James Link officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery at Rome City. Casketbearers will be members of the Fort Wayne Police Department. Military graveside services will be conducted by Rome City American Legion Post 381 and Kendallville VFW Post 2749.

Calling will be Thursday, June 26, 2008, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
