Gordon C. Chandler, 83, of Westler Lake, Wolcottville died Monday, June 27, 2011, in the home of his sister in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Chandler had lived in this area since 1952, coming from Fort Wayne. He retired from the Falstaff Brewery in Fort Wayne after 35 years.
He served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church and American Legion Post 381, both in Rome City.
He was born March 18, 1928, in Fort Wayne to Robert and Thelma (Feist) Chandler.
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Marian (Chandler) and Ralph Weller of Fort Wayne; a brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Joy Chandler of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Chandler and Michael Chandler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City, with Fr. Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Color guard services will be provided by American Legion Post 381 at the church following the service.
Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne at 2 p.m. with active duty members of the U.S. Army providing honor guard services.
Calling is two hours prior to the service at the church.
