Goldie Charles, 88, of Rome City died Monday, September 18, 2017, at 6:56 p.m. in her residence surrounded by family.
She was born October 7, 1928, in Garrett, Kentucky, to Jess and Florinda (Sparkman) Hicks.
She married George Charles. He preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage.
Mrs. Charles was a homemaker.
She was a member of the True Church of God in Jesus Name near Kendallville.
Surviving are six daughters, Thelma Meyers of Rome City, Tina Gibson of Wolcottville, Barbara (Jim) Johnson of Berwind, West Virginia, Janice (Tim) Kirk of Charleston, West Virginia, Linda Charles of Goshen, and Trisha (Dale) Anders of Easley, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Charles of Greenville, South Carolina; 33 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gertie (Ray) Kinser of Ligonier; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Charles of Ligonier.
She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren; four sons, Corby Charles, Cordell Charles, George E. Charles, and Gordon Charles; three sisters; and five brothers.
Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. in True Church of God in Jesus Name, 2664 South Lima Road, Kendallville, Indiana.
Additional visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fanning Funeral Home, 13879 Rocket Boys Drive, War, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Fanning Funeral Home, War, West Virginia with Pastor Worley Gibson and Pastor Junior Brewster officiating. Burial will be in Big Creek Cemetery, Big Creek, West Virginia.
Preferred memorials are to the True Church of God in Jesus Name.
