Obituary

Gloria Joy (Nissen) VanHalst Fryback, 81, of Fort Wayne died Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at 9:30 p.m. at the Ossian Health and Rehab Center in Ossian.

She was born December 18, 1937, in Hartland, Wisconsin, to Lester and Ruth Sylvia (Ansty) Nissen.

She was a seamstress at Bennett's in New Haven, and enjoyed sewing.

Ms. Fryback was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.

Surviving are a daughter, Alicia (Kevin) Fiechter of Ossian; two sons, Jeff VanHalst of Fort Wayne and Chris VanHalst; four grandchildren, Nicholas VanHalst, Michael VanHalst, Dustin VanHalst, and Kayla (Paul) Miller; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lynn VanHalst; her second husband, Larry Fryback; a son, Jonathan VanHalst; a sister, Ramona Gard; and two brothers, David Nissen and Charles Nissen.

Graveside services will be Monday, June 10, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Orange Cemetery, Rome City with Father Bernard Ramenaden of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City officiating.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
