Glenna Gladys Blue, 94, of Kendallville died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.
Mrs. Blue had lived in the area since 1921, coming from Iowa. She graduated from Kendallville High School. She had worked at the Central Drug Store in Kendallville for many years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Kendallville.
Glenna loved her family, her home, and her flowers. Most of her free time was spent helping others. She would bake a thousand or more Christmas cookies each year, and enjoyed giving them away.
She was born February 13, 1916, in Iowa to Harry and Olive Florence Viola (Housholder) Gates. On September 14, 1935, in Warsaw she married Donald J. Blue. They had been married 68 years when he preceded her in death on November 23, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bill Moree of Auburn; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Caryl Blue of Kendallville and Dick Blue of Kendallville; three granddaughters, Kim Marti of Kendallville, Amy Sage of Kendallville, and Mindy Gardner of Auburn; nine great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter, all of whom are left here to try and follow the great lessons she taught.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Strouse and Velva Spannagel.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Paul B. Griebel of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville officiating. Burial will be in the Avilla Lutheran Cemetery.
Calling will be Friday, August 13, 2010, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
