Calling: Thursday, April 3, 2014 - 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday ***************************************************************************************** Glen Edward Hassinger, 88, of Kendallville died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in the Chandler House, Kendallville.
He had resided in Kendallville since May, 2012. Prior to that, he and his wife had lived in Sun City, Arizona, for 34 years.
Mr. Hassinger owned and operated Hassinger Construction in Kendallville.
He was born May 3, 1925, in LaGrange County to George and Ruth (Spearow) Hassinger.
On January 1, 1979, in Michigan he married Betty L. (Bookout) Henschen. She survives in Kendallville.
Also surviving are a daughter, Nancy Jordan of Corunna; three stepsons, Robert (Fushia) Henschen of Wolcottville, Ronald (Karen) Henschen of Kendallville, and Richard (Tammy) Henschen of Wolcottville; four grandchildren, Andrew Hassinger, Brian Hassinger, Aaron Jordan, and Angie Kirkpatrick; seven step grandchildren, Rob Henschen, Randy Henschen, Rachelle Beiswanger, Ronald W. Henschen, Kim Henschen, Kristina Cartwright, and Dillon Henschen; nine great-grandchildren; and 13 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Hassinger in 2007, and an infant sister, Mary Jane Hassinger.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. David Mathews of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Grove Cemetery.
Calling is Thursday, April 3, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday .
Preferred memorials are to the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.
