Obituary

Girley Mae (Hicks) Burtz, 50, of Fremont died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angola. She had been ill since March.

Ms. Burtz lived in Noble County most of her life. She worked as a cashier at WalMart in Angola and had previously worked at Tenneco Automotive in Ligonier for 12 years. She enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.

She was born March 8, 1958, in the family home in Nolan, West Virginia to Dallas Hicks, Sr. and Ida (Smith) Hicks. She made her home for the past 12 years with Terry Baumgartner, her survives in Fremont.

Also surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Zack & Jessica Girardot, of Fort Wayne; Matthew & Christina Baumgartner, of Fort Wayne; Jake Laymon, of Garrett; and Terry Levi Baumgartner, of Fort Wayne; one daughter and son-in-law, Teah & Chris Finton. Of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Anthony Jason Laymon; Erin Baumgartner; Hailie Girardot; Shawn Baumgartner; and Isaiah Laymon; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lynn Schlabach, of Garrett; and Alva & Darin Metzger, of Kendallville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary & Donna Hicks, o f Rome City; and Dallas Hicks, Jr. and Lisa Hicks, of Garrett; neices and nephews, Robert Weber; Matthew Weber; Tiffany Miller; Becky Weber; Jason Ice; Jesse Ice; Dallas Hicks III; Matthew Schlabach; Amber Hicks; Ashley Metzger; and Chelsey Metzger.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Full Gospel Revival Center, Rome City, with Rev. Ruben VanHoose, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Matthew Schlabach; Dallas Hicks, III; Chris Finton; John Price; Ruben Hicks; Darin Metzger; and Adam Svoboda.

Calling will be Sunday, September 7, 2008, after 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the Angola Cancer Organization.
