Obituary

Gertie Jean Whitt, 42, of Squire, West Virginia, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne following an unexpected illness.

Mrs. Whitt was a homemaker.

She was born July 11, 1968, in Kendallville to Milton and Bessie (Hicks) Handshoe. On July 23, 1990 in Kendallville she married Lee J. Whitt. He survives in Squire, West Virginia.

Also surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Crystal and Johnathan Centers of North Carolina and Amanda Hess and her friend, Jasper Centers of West Virginia; a son, Edward Whitt of Squire, West Virginia; one grandchild; four sisters and four brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and her father-in-law, Birtie Lee Whitt on January 7, 2011.

Calling is Friday, January 21, 2011, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Kimmell where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be in West Virginia, with burial in Squire, West Virginia. Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
