Obituary

Gerhard John Krull, 99, of Rome City died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. in Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, where he had resided since January 4, 2008.

Mr. Krull graduated from high school in Germany and attended a private agriculture school there. He came to the United States on May 10, 1930, and soon settled in the Rome City area. He attended Purdue University, and retired from farm management at Kneipp Springs in Rome City after 45 years. He was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City, had served 16 years on the Orange Township Advisory Board, and 12 years on the Noble County Health Board. He was a member of the Rome City Lions Club for over 40 years, and was active in several agricultural associations.

He was born January 2, 1909, in Lorup, Germany, to Rudolph and Helena (Eggering) Krull. On February 2, 1940, in Kendallville, he married Eileen Catherine Ihrie. She preceded him in death on February 23, 1997.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Larry Edwards of Rome City, Barbara and Dan Tatman of Rome City, and Betty and Al Olry of Fort Wayne; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Kay Krull of Winchester, Kentucky, Dr. David J. Krull and Sandy Krull of Palmetto, Florida, and Richard F. and Karna Krull of LaGrange; 21 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; and a sister, Gesina Pohladel of Lorup, Germany.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, June 9, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Gaspar Catholic Church, 10871 N SR 9, Rome City, with Father Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be John Edwards, Mike Edwards, Bob Edwards, Rick Krull, Matt Tatman, Josh Dukehart, Tom Dukehart, and Christopher Edwards.

Calling will be Sunday, June 8, 2008, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with Rosary service at 7 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to St. Gaspar Catholic Church or Provena Sacred Heart Home
