Obituary

Gerald E. "Jerry" Miller, 79, of Hudson died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his residence.

He was born June 12, 1938, in Fort Wayne to Kenneth and Margaret (Tassler) Miller.

He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959.

On August 19, 1961, in Fort Wayne he married Eunice Denison.

Mr. Miller retired in 1997 after 20 years with the B&O Railroad. He was a member of American Legion Post 31 in Angola and a volunteer for Cameron Hospice for many years following the death of his wife.

Jerry loved model trains, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Scott (Shawn Bartels) Miller of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Dawn (Mike) Brames of Pleasant Lake and Toni (Kenneth) Moon of Angola; 11 grandchildren, Erica (Kurt) Voigt of Angola, Corey Petre of San Diego, California, Colby (Kolbi Huge) Petre of Angola, Shelby Brames of Pleasant Lake, Ashley (Jerome) Crabtree of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Caitlin Miller, Jillian Miller and Joshua Miller, all of Sturgis, Michigan, Kyle (Brianne Blum) Moon, Emily (Jared Mann) Moon and Cooper Moon, all of Angola; seven great-grandchildren, Shay Voigt, Kaylee Voigt, Aiden Voigt, Avarie Petre, Liam Petre, Owen Petre, all of Angola and Brynleigh Crabtree of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two sisters, Ruth Ann Shepherd of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Joyce Granlund of Fort Wayne; and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Eunice Miller on February 15, 2000; his father, Kenneth Miller; his mother, Margaret Kidner; his stepfather, Robert Kidner; a brother, Karl Miller; and several uncles and aunts.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson with Pastor Sam Weimer officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

Honor guard services will be provided by American Legion Post 31 and active duty members of the U.S. Navy.

Casketbearers will be Corey Petre, Colby Petre, Shelby Brames, Kyle Moon, Emily Moon, Cooper Moon, Kenny Moon, and Jared Mann.

Calling is Friday, April 6, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Cameron Hospice or the fire department of the donor's choice.
