Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City.

Calling is Monday, March 30, 2015, from 2 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville where there will be Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. **************************************************************************************** Gerald "Jerry" Gran, 82 of Witmer Lake, Wolcottville died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 9:42 p.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange where he had resided for the past three years.

He retired in 1987 from Tokheim Corporation in Fort Wayne. He was union steward for 1539.

He served as Assistant Chief for the Adams I Volunteer Fire Department in New Haven. He drove school bus for East Allen County Schools, and was the manager for his mother's business, E.J. Plant Shoppe in Fort Wayne.

Jerry was a ninth charter member of the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association, and served on the board for the Witmer Lake Association. He was also instrumental in starting the wooden boat show on Sylvan Lake in Rome City.

Mr. Gran was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.

He was born June 13, 1932, in Elkhart to Gail and Evelyn (Eurmy) Gran. At the age of four his family moved to Fort Wayne. He had polio at the age of 15. He attended Cathedral School and Central Catholic School, both in Fort Wayne.

On August 4, 1956 in Fort Wayne he married Arlene Weibel. She survives in Wolcottville.

Also surviving are a daughter, Nina Roach of New Haven; six grandchildren, Angela (Ray) Riner, Crystal Roach, Michelle Taylor, Logan Roach, Brandon McCann, and Cody Burton; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Smith of Detroit, Michigan; and a brother Jack Dold of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roland L. Gran on March 31, 2007; a daughter, Christina Burton on December 23, 2013; and a brother, Gene Gran.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City with Father Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in St. Gaspar Catholic Cemetery.

Calling is Monday, March 30, 2015, from 2 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville where there will be Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Preferred memorials are to St Gaspar Catholic Church or Masses to the church.
