It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgia Ann (Charleston) Russell Holmes, age 84 of Rome City, Indiana and Naples, Florida. She passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her.
Georgia was born on November 1, 1941, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was the cherished daughter of the late George W. and Winifred Charleston Baker; and step-father Keith Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Holmes; her son Derrick Russell; and siblings Jon Charleston, and Robert Charleston.
Georgia had a passion for life and loved to travel. Her presence will be sorely missed, especially her cooking. She loved to compete in card games and share a good, strong drink.
She held a deep affection for spending time with her family. She is survived by her four children: Jeffrey Russell and (wife) Vicki of Madison, Wisconsin; Tracy Russell Adams of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Susie Russell of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Mitchell Russell and (wife) Jennifer of Atlanta, Georgia.
She also leaves behind nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren and her surviving siblings Charles Kim Charleston of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Sue (Charleston) Dziamara and (husband) Jerry Calengor of Naples, Florida; MaryLou (Charleston) Chronister and (husband) Tom of Rome City, Indiana; Bradley Baker and (wife) Pam of The Villages, Florida; and sister-in-law Sandy Charleston of Fort Wayne, Indiana. All will forever carry her love and lessons in their hearts.
A Mass will be held Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Georgia’s memory to your community Hospice Care Center.
