George A. Laurie, 69, of Kendallville died Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 11:32 p.m. in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Laurie had worked in maintenance in several area factories. He most recently worked at Parkview Noble Hospital as a security officer.
He was a veteran of the Navy, serving from 1959 to 1970. He served in Vietnam as a Navy Seal. He was a member of American Legion Post 86, VFW Post 2749, the American Legion Riders Squadron Charter and a life member of the DAV. He served as a past master of F.&A.M. Lodge 85 in Ligonier, and recently transferred his membership to the Kendallville Lodge. He was also a member of the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and the Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine, and a former member of the Kendallville Eagles Lodge.
He was born September 20, 1941, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Albert and Elizabeth (Wilemon) Laurie. On April 6, 2008, in Kendallville, he married Pam (Parker) Bradshaw.
Surviving are his wife, Pam Laurie of Kendallville; four daughters and a son-in-law, Loki and Junior Leomiti of California, Carol Tautala of California, Meleah Wagner of Florida, and Erin Laurie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Claudia Laurie of California, Frank Laurie of California; and Diana of California; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Ailene Defreese of Elkhart and Sharon of Seattle, Washington; three brothers, Lachlan Laurie of California, Ian Laurie of Oregon, and Colin Laurie of California; and his stepmother, Wilma Laurie of Phoenix, Arizona
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Laurie, and a sister, Joann.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. in American Legion Post 86, 322 South Main Street, Kendallville. Honor guard services will be conducted by VFW Post 2749 and American Legion Post 86.
Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
