Obituary

George K. Bently, 103, of Fort Wayne died Friday, October 29, 2010, at The Towne House Health Center.

Mr. Bently had lived at The Towne House in Fort Wayne since April, 1999, coming from Kendallville. He retired as Vice President of Engineering at the McCray Refrigerator Company in Kendallville, having worked there for 37 years.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville where he served as an elder. He was also a member of the TKE Fraternity, Kendallville Lions Club, Kendallville Elks Lodge, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers and Director of Peoples Federal Savings Bank for over 25 years.

He was born August 7, 1907, in Valparaiso to Joseph C. and Anna Catherine Margaret (Harbeck) Bently. On November 24, 1938, in Kendallville he married Orpha Jean Preston.

Surviving are his wife, Orpha Jean Bently of Fort Wayne; a son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Charlotte "Deanie" Bently of Bloomington; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. His son, Robert Preston Bently, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 1, 2010, at 11 a.m. in The Towne House Chapel, 2209 St. Joe Center Road, Fort Wayne, with Pastor Doug Vogel officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling will be one hour prior to the service at the Towne House Chapel.
