Obituary

Gale F. "Stormy" Thompson, 79, of Avon Park, Florida, and formerly of Kendallville, Indiana, died Sunday, April 18, 2021, at his residence.

He was born August 12, 1941, in Kendallville to Wayne and Emily (Evers) Thompson.

He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965.

Mr. Thompson drove truck for Ingersoll Rand and retired in 1985.

He was a member of Kendallville Masonic Lodge #276 in Kendallville, Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, Mizpah Temple in Fort Wayne, Kendallville Eagles Lodge #98, and American Legion Post 246 in Albion.

Surviving are a son, Kevin Thompson of Kendallville; two brothers, Daryl Thompson of Brownsburg and Kent (Retzy) Thompson of Zionsville; a brother-in-law, Jim Acton of Brownsburg; several nieces and nephews; and his significant other, Angie Green of Avon Park, Florida.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Acton.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 23, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.

Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard and active duty members of the U.S. Air Force.

Visitation is Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic Lodge service will be held at 7 p.m.

The family asks that face masks be worn.
