Fred Stacy, 79, of Rome City, Indiana, died Monday, October 31, 2022, at his residence.

He was born December 14, 1942, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Ishmael and Serina (Miller) Stacy.

On October 8, 1971, in Kendallville he married Sherry Lynne Gose.

Mr. Stacy retired from Quick Tanks in Kendallville where he was a welder.

Fred enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and watching sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Sherry Stacy of Rome City; four children, Phillip F. Stacy of Rome City, Crystal L. (Mark) Wentworth of Kendallville, Jo-ann Quinn of Manassas, Virginia, and James Mertens of Newport News, Virginia; six grandchildren, Mark D. Wentworth, III, Brady James Wentworth, Logan Nicholas Wentworth, Saige Days, Casey Quinn, and Erin Quinn; two sisters, Cappy Hicks of Kentucky and Callie Smith of Kentucky; and three brothers, Carly Stacy of Kentucky, Arthur Stacy of Kentucky, and Charles Stacy of Wolcottville.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly R. Bailey; a granddaughter, Samantha Bailey; a sister, Virginia Patrick; and three brothers, Winfred Stacy, Floyd Stacy, and Clyde Stacy.

There will be no visitation or service.

Burial will be at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
