Service: Friday, August 15, 2014 - 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel

Calling: Thursday, August 14, 2014 - 2 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home where there will be an Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association service at 7 p.m. ***************************************************************************************** Floyd D. Heltzel, 94, of Rome City died Monday, August 11, 2014, at 11:31 p.m. in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.

He retired in 1985 after 40 years at the Kendallville Foundry. Prior to that, he worked for five years with the railroad.

Mr. Heltzel was a 45-year member of the Orange Township Fire Department. He was a member of the Westin Street Bible Church, Rome City.

Floyd was a bluegrass lover with a passion for camping, fishing, and deer hunting.

He was born July 22, 1920 in Bremen to Seymour & Myrtle (Sparrow) Heltzel

On March 27, 1943, in Wolcottville he married, Vivian Fockler. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2014.

Surviving are two daughters, Myrtle Kline of Kimmell and Marjorie "Margie" (Steve) Herendeen of Rome City; a daughter-in-law. JoAnn Heltzel of Rome City; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 20 great great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Doris Heltzel of Bremen.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Floyd L. "Bubby" Heltzel; three grandchildren, Tricia Ann Heltzel, Brenda Niles, and Charles Niles; a great-granddaughter, Sylvia Cole; a great great-grandson, Ayden Charles; seven brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Dan Lash and Pastor Steve Herendeen officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Pallbearers will be Joe Heltzel, Steve Herendeen, Benji Fugate, Tristan Conley, David Sprunger, Dustan Herendeen, Matt Herendeen, and James Marti.

Calling is Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 2 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home with a service at 7 p.m. by the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Preferred memorials are to the Orange Township Fire Department.
